Meet the Team: Q&A with Chuck Hilman, Project Manager

Project Manager at The O’Dell Group

Chuck was recently promoted after being a Site Manager for 7 years. He is a native of the Weston and Westport area, attending Staples High School as teenager. Chuck enjoys the camaraderie of The O’Dell Group team, and has an acute understand of the complex dynamics involved with building. He can always be counted on to make sure everyone is prepared and engaged with their individual tasks so that every project is completed in a timely and accurate fashion.

Walk us through a typical day in the field.

First thing I do when I arrive at work, I locate where groups of employees are working that day ( a group can be divided by a project they work on), and check upon incoming deliveries.  Then, I call different trades to see what time they’re showing up for the job that day. Also, briefing the group on the agenda for the day is how we all stay on the same page. I consistently check on ongoing projects until the status of completion.

What's the coolest project you're working on right now?

All projects have their own coolness and challenges.

Do you have a mentor or role model in the industry?

I take advice from all the trades.  So I could say everyone who's an expert in their field and competent is a mentor.

What's the furthest or favorite city outside of Connecticut you've ever traveled to?

 Gothenburg, Sweden

Pick one: Written calendar or online calendar? Tell us how you stay organized.

I use an online calendar, it helps me stay focused on various projects at once and what needs to get done.
