The emotional devastation of witnessing one’s home succumb to flames is an experience beyond words. Starting August 2021, amidst the ashes and remnants of lost treasures at our Norwalk client’s home, The O'Dell Group embarked on a journey, steered by the visionary architect Mary O’Dell. This was a project with more than just reconstruction, there was healing, transformation, and new beginnings.

Scope of Work: Restorations due to house fire & roof addition
The restoration process began with painstaking efforts to bring the home back to its pre-fire condition. Every aspect of the property was scrutinized and carefully assessed during planning stages to ensure both functionality and aesthetics. The O'Dell Group team worked tirelessly to source materials, consider budget, and preserve the home’s original character. In addition to the restorations, a remarkable change took place on the roof. We had the opportunity to incorporate cutting-edge technology and eco-friendly solutions for the home's energy needs. The roof was prepped to accommodate CondEd Solar panels, harnessing the power of the sun and promoting clean energy consumption. This sustainable addition will not only contribute to a reduced carbon footprint but also offered long-term energy savings for the homeowners.

When tragedy struck and a house fire left our clients home in ruins, The O’Dell Group team stepped in to provide support, guidance, and expertise in the rebuilding process. We recognized the importance of not only restoring the home but also incorporating features that would enhance its resilience for years to come. Mary and the team’s first priority was to address the necessary restoration and repairs caused by the fire. Careful attention was paid to every detail, ensuring that the home regained its original charm while incorporating modern safety standards. Structural improvements were made to reinforce the overall integrity of the building, offering both peace of mind and durability. Moreover, our vision extended beyond just restoring the home to its former state. She understood the potential for growth and innovation and sought to maximize the home's potential by incorporating a third-floor attic. This attic would not only provide additional living space but also serve as a canvas for sustainable solutions.

THE RESTORED EXTERIOR
EXTERIOR: The addition here is shown from the back of the house. This roof was prepped for ConEd Solar panels.
EXTERIOR: The new siding an windows completely transformed this home and gave whole new meaning to curb appeal.
IN PROGRESS: This was a whole home renovation. The new vinyl siding was matched with new Anderson Windows.
IN PROGRESS: The addition created additional space for the family to play and store personal items.
INSIDE THE ADDITION: This space will be further modified in the future to accommodate more than just storage and play.
INSIDE THE ADDITION: The owners are in talks of adding a bar or living area in the new addition.
